OG D-Wet asked:

I’m setting up my Jeep for offroad use and I got the idea that I could install a nice marine-specific Clarion headunit and speaker combo since I plan to ride through a lot of water and mud. Is this a good idea? I’m not sure how marine audio compares to car audio performance-wise. Can anyone help?

I have learned ALOT from yahoo answers. With everyone’s help, I was able to go from knowing nothing to designing and installing my own system. Now I want to know more.

I know alot of things that I didn’t know before, but I want to get into the technical aspects of speakers and audio systems. Cna anyone recommend a beginner to novice level book on the topic? A car audio ‘bible’ is exactly what I’m trying to find. Thanks.

Ok, I have a 1987 Porche 924S and am looking to improve the sound system. I don’t want to spend too much and am not looking into getting anything to extravagant. What I want is to improve the sound quality at the level it’s already at as well as give me the ability to crank up the sound without fear of braking anything. I was thinking of a couple of tweeters, woofers and probably a 10′ sub, but I’m not sure on anything from brand to size and would atleast like to have an idea of what I’m looking for before getting jipped at any audio stores.

I asked this question earlier about getting a car system for my 2008 Dodge Charger. I don’t know anything about audio systems and requirements. I just need help on finding a good audio system for less than $500 if possible a Kicker, Alipine, or Infinity. If you could list the name of each part of a system I should get like the sub, amp, etc. Please help me. Thanks.

chaostheorymc asked:

I know there are experts on this board who are very familiar with car audio. I know nothing about this topic, but I am looking to research and purchase a nice system for my Honda Accord.

What things to I need to buy (and know) to get a car stereo, and what are some quality brands that I can trust?

Sorry this might require an extensive answer, but many people will most likely benefit from it.

This setup is for a mobile radio with 4 6×9 and a Kenwood 35×4 Car CD player. It ran last year for about 20 hours with the 2 batteries and no amp. I just want to see if anyone can give me a guess as to how long it will last with the 500W amp.

ok…I am putting a set of tweeters up front in my A-pillars, two 3 1/2’s in the upper dash (OE), set of 6 1/2’s (one in each front door panel) set of 6 x 9’s (Rear deck) Two 12’s (I am having the box built to exact sub specs) … Now what I need to know, is of the size speakers and subs, I listen to fast hard beats, not that long drawn out rap beat, but metal, rave, and hard rock, and fast techno. What would be the best brand for each of these sizes? Best ohms? Best amps? Wattages? Crossovers (Active or passive?) I am looking for SQL not SPL
