How to i set up a car audio sytem for home use?

I went to a car audio shop one time and they had a system pumping that was just plugged into the wall… they had a head unit an amp two subs and about 4 speakers… i kno how to do that easily in a car but how would you do that for a house?? would you get a power inverter for both the and and the head unit?? and what about the grounds? if anyone can help me please do..
